Getting Some Help with Student Loans and Grants
At some point you may have heard somebody say something to the effect that you can lose almost everything in life; your job, your family, your friends or your fortune. Something that can never be taken from you is your education. If you want to get a good education and you can’t afford it, there are ways that you can go about funding it and it is worthwhile to look into all of your options.
Something that makes it easy is that there is one place where you can
go to apply for Federal Government grant money, college student money or Pell grants. Just fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This will have all of your bases covered. The biggest mistake that is made when people are filling out this form is that they do not do it on time. You can check with your school to find out when their deadline for applications is, but you are better off to just get it in as soon as you can. You’ll sleep better at night knowing that you’ve got some Federal Government grant money coming.
Pell grants are need-based awards. Many people call them Pell loans but that is actually a bit of a misnomer. You have to be an undergraduate student, and you have to have your high school equivalency. If you qualify academically, they will do an expected family contribution calculation to help determine if you qualify financially. If you are a fulltime student, you can be awarded up to $5550 of college student money. That makes a big difference.
You owe it to yourself to check out websites that have information about Federal Government grant money, loans and scholarships. So many people don’t take the time to do their research because they just don’t feel like there’s going to be free money out there. It’s not really free money; you have to use it for education and in fact usually Pell grants go directly to the school instead of straight to you. That’s probably a good thing because a lot of people would probably go out and blow it on something if they had it in their hands.
If you have to take out loans to get college student money, it is still completely worth it. The additional income that you will make in a lifetime will allow you to pay them off before you know it and you will be so much better off in the long run.
